A Walker from Russia Set a New World Record at the World Race Walking Cup

The first victory at the 23rd World Race Walking Cup at the capital of Chuvashia set a new world record. The winner of the juniors men’s 10km race is the Russian athlete Alexei Bartzaikin with his world record time of 39 minutes 57 seconds. 15 seconds behind him finished a walker from China Динг Чен, who set his personal record. The 3rd is a Russian as well - Denis Strelkov is among the prizeholders with 40:17.
Both the Russian medalists come from Saransk, where the race walking school is considered one of the strongest in Russia. While talking to journalists Denis said it was a deserved and honourable victory for him over the strongest junior walkers in the world.
Having got 4 points Russians became leaders in the Teams standings. The second are Chinese (7 points) , the third are the Spanish team (10 points).
