Men’s 20 km silver went to Valeriy Borchin from Saransk race walking school. Thus, the total of the day is as follows: the Russian team have collected the greater number of medals.
“I’m very glad, as this victory at the World Cup took me much effort”, – men’s 20 km winner Francisco Fernandez (Spain) said, who by the way was also the first at the European Championship in Cheboksary 2005. «Cheboksary appeared the city of luck for me», – the athlete said. At the present moment he’s training under the legendary walker Robert Korzeniowski, Poland.
Valeriy Borchin admitted he felt fine about competing at the Russian land. «The spectators gave us an amasing support, they cheered: «Viva, Russia!». And that was awesome! Doing this they contributed a sort of intrigue, adrenaline», he said.
The bronze medalist eder Sanchez remarked the World Cup was a good test before the Olympic Games.
May 11 will show the best in the men’s 50 km marathon and women’s 20 km races.
